Merged patient appearing in TCI in error

After merging patient records, the old/incorrect MRN/ID may continue to appear on a ward’s To Come In (TCI) list.

Written by Connor Baeza

This typically occurs when the old record still has an open episode that was not automatically closed during the merge.

Symptoms

  • Old patient MRN/ID appears on the TCI list after a merge.

  • Correct patient record has already been discharged.

  • Incorrect MRN remains visible on scheduling or ward lists.

Cause

When a patient merge takes place, open episodes on the old MRN do not always end automatically.

If an open episode remains active, the system may continue to reference the old MRN and display it on the TCI list.

Resolution

Because episode closure requires system level intervention, this issue cannot be resolved directly by end users.

To correct this issue, type talk to a person in the Digital Assistant.

The assistant will connect you to a live support agent, who can:

  • Identify the open episode on the old MRN.

  • End the episode correctly.

  • Ensure the old MRN is removed from the TCI list.
